| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of
James Tyree; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, James Tyree grew up in the Beverly neighborhood of | 5 | | Chicago; he earned his bachelor's degree and his Master of | 6 | | Business Administration degree from Illinois State University; | 7 | | and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, James Tyree began his career at Mesirow, an | 9 | | employee-owned, diversified financial services company, in | 10 | | 1980; he subsequently became the company's CEO and chairman and | 11 | | helped build the private company into a $51 billion-asset firm | 12 | | with more than 1,200 employees in offices nationwide and in | 13 | | London; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, James Tyree led an investment group that bought | 15 | | the Chicago Sun-Times for $26 million when the newspaper was | 16 | | floundering in bankruptcy court in 2009; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, James Tyree had served on more than 50 civic and | 18 | | corporate boards, including the board of PrivateBancorp Inc.; | 19 | | he was active in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the | 20 | | Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, the Executives' Club of | 21 | | Chicago, the Illinois State University Foundation, the |

| 1 | | Illinois Institute of Technology, and the University of Chicago | 2 | | Hospitals; he also served as board chairman of the City | 3 | | Colleges system for 10 years; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, James Tyree was a lifelong fan of the Chicago | 5 | | White Sox; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, James Tyree is survived by his wife, Eve, and his | 7 | | children, Jessica, Matthew, and Joseph; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 10 | | his family and friends, the passing of James Tyree; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of James Tyree as an expression of our | 14 | | sympathy.
