| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Charles E. "Chuck" Brooks of Danville, | 4 | | who passed away on February 8, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks was born in Danville to Charles and | 6 | | Sandra (Mackin) Brooks on January 27, 1959; he graduated from | 7 | | Danville High School and from Danville Area Community College | 8 | | with an associate's degree; he married Rita Hyer in Danville | 9 | | on May 20, 2000; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks worked at the ESCO factory and spent | 11 | | many years at the United Way before his most recent position as | 12 | | administrator at Danville Township; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks was always giving back to the | 14 | | community; he served on the Community Services Counsel, as | 15 | | Secretary/Treasurer of the AFL-CIO, and as past board member | 16 | | and president of the Vermilion County Conservation District | 17 | | Board of Trustees; he also served as chairman of the Danville | 18 | | Area Food Pantry, the Vermilion County Democratic party, and | 19 | | the FEMA Board for Vermilion County; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks managed the Septemberfest | 21 | | celebration and Labor Day parades in Danville for many years; |

| 1 | | he was instrumental in getting the local postal carriers and | 2 | | the Frost Bite Marathon food drives started in Vermilion | 3 | | County; he volunteered with the Salvation Army as part of the | 4 | | Christmas Cheer Counsel and the Back-to-School supply | 5 | | distribution; he also enjoyed volunteering at Haunted | 6 | | Happenings for the Conservation District; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks was affectionately known as "Papa | 8 | | Chuck", "Pawka", and "Uncle Chuck" to his family members; he | 9 | | was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and | 10 | | Illini; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks enjoyed spending time with family | 12 | | and friends and watching his favorite teams; he was an avid fan | 13 | | of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt; he enjoyed movies, especially | 14 | | Star Wars; recently, he and his wife enjoyed a magical | 15 | | Tennessee Christmas at his favorite vacation spot in Pigeon | 16 | | Forge; his greatest passion was combining his computer skills | 17 | | and his love of Christmas to create the Brooks Family | 18 | | Christmas, lighting up rural Danville for the past 22 years | 19 | | and always trying to make it bigger and better than the year | 20 | | before; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks was preceded in death by his | 22 | | daughter, Kim Washkowiak, and his father, Charles Brooks; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks is survived by his wife, Rita; his | 2 | | mother, Sandra Brooks; his brother, Mark (Tammy) Brooks; his | 3 | | children, Amanda "Amy" Long and Karha (Eric) Rosson; his | 4 | | grandchildren, Nicholas (Kirstie) Hedges, Dylan Washkowiak, | 5 | | McKenna Rosson, Maci Long, and Kaiden and Christopher Hazel; | 6 | | and his nieces and nephews, Hannah (Ronnie), Miles, Nora, and | 7 | | Isla Wheeler, Matthew Brooks (Olivia Emerick), and Josh and | 8 | | Jaxon Dicken; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Charles E. "Chuck" Brooks and extend our sincere condolences | 12 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 13 | | it further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Chuck Brooks as an expression of our | 16 | | deepest sympathy.
