| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Jerry Ray Gould, who passed away on | 4 | | January 28, 2024; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Gould was born to Percy Jay Gould and Mary | 6 | | Gould in Moline on January 27, 1940; he attended Alwood High | 7 | | School, where he enjoyed playing basketball with his brother; | 8 | | he started serving as a weather observer in the U.S. Navy in | 9 | | 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, After his military service, Jerry Gould began | 11 | | working for the Orlando Sentinel newspaper in Florida; he then | 12 | | moved to Andros Island in the Bahamas, where he worked as as a | 13 | | technical expert in computer sciences for a United States | 14 | | Naval contractor; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, Jerry Gould returned to Alpha and | 16 | | connected with many of his friends from his school days; he | 17 | | enjoyed golfing with his friends and spent many winters in | 18 | | Arizona; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Gould was preceded in death by his wives, | 20 | | Barbra (Clark) Gould and Judy (Hyatt) Gould; his parents; his | 21 | | brothers, Willard Gould and Thomas Gould; and his sisters, |

| 1 | | Maridean (Gould) Andree and Carol (Gould) Spence; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Jerry Gould was | 3 | | survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and | 4 | | grandnephews; therefore, be it | 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Jerry Ray Gould and extend our sincere condolences to his | 8 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further | 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Jerry Gould as an expression of our | 12 | | deepest sympathy. |
