SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lisle Eugene Hubbard of Rock Island, who passed away on January 6, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard was born to Mary and Arthur Hubbard in Sherrard on June 30, 1927; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving two years on a ship in the Pacific; he married Carol Jean Bowman on October 22, 1949; and

WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard was a self-taught engineer capable of building or repairing almost anything; he began working in the pattern shop of John Deere Harvester Works (John Deere) in East Moline in 1950; he accepted a similar job in Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1957 before returning to John Deere in the Quad Cities in 1959, where he worked as a supervisor in the pattern shop, retiring in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard served on the church council at St. Paul Lutheran Church; he also served as an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 123; and

WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard was always working on a project, including building a 34-foot wooden boat, which he sailed down the Mississippi River to Florida, constructing a vacation cabin in the Adirondack Mountains, and assembling a long flight of stairs over sand dunes near Lake Michigan; and

WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard will be remembered for his energetic, adventurous, generous, and loving personality; and

WHEREAS, Lisle Hubbard is survived by his wife; his sons, Kevin (Susan) Hubbard and Brad (Ann) Hubbard; and his grandchildren, Timothy, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Lily, and Noah; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lisle Eugene Hubbard and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lisle Hubbard as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
