| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Ernest Edwin "Ernie" Michaels of Elk | 4 | | Grove Village, who passed away on December 21, 2023; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was born to Edwin and Agnes | 6 | | (Czaja) Michaels in Chicago on January 18, 1930; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, Ernie worked as a commissioned driver for PepsiCo | 8 | | for 36 years; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels loved entertaining people with his | 10 | | banjo, partaking in many parades, senior center gigs, and | 11 | | other events, and he was the leader of the Windy City Jammers, | 12 | | playing with the band every Monday night at many restaurants | 13 | | throughout the years; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was a former member of the Elk | 15 | | Grove Village Lions, helping with the organization's Candy Day | 16 | | and participating in its 4th of July celebrations with banjo | 17 | | sing-alongs; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels enjoyed working out on a | 19 | | stationary bike at the Elk Grove Pavilion; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was known for always having a kind | 2 | | word for everyone; he will be remembered for being a loving, | 3 | | encouraging husband, a supportive best friend to his son, and | 4 | | a caring grandfather; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels was preceded in death by his first | 6 | | wife, Gene (Omernik) Michaels; his daughter, Linda (John) | 7 | | Colonna; his parents; and his siblings, Ralph (Louise) | 8 | | Michaels, Earl Michaels, and Audrey (John) Ward; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Michaels is survived by his second wife, | 10 | | Margaret (Lorincz) Michaels; his son, Dale (Susan) Michaels; | 11 | | his grandchildren, Daxton Michaels and Delaney Michaels; and | 12 | | many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; | 13 | | therefore, be it | 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 16 | | Ernest Edwin "Ernie" Michaels and extend our sincere | 17 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 18 | | him; and be it further | 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 20 | | presented to the family of Ernie Michaels as an expression of | 21 | | our deepest sympathy. |
