| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Joshua "Josh" Basala, who passed away | 4 | | on November 1, 2023; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Josh Basala was born to Rian and Joni Basala in | 6 | | Rock Island on December 28, 1976; he attended Roosevelt | 7 | | Elementary School, Willson Jr. High School, and Sherrard High | 8 | | School, where he excelled in basketball and football; he | 9 | | enlisted in the U.S. Navy through the Buddy Program in 1996; he | 10 | | completed basic training at Naval Station Great Lakes before | 11 | | undergoing training in Millington, Tennessee and later in | 12 | | Miramar, California, where he worked on electronics for F-18 | 13 | | Hornets at Naval Air Station Cecil Field; he was deployed | 14 | | aboard the U.S.S. Eisenhower and was soon transferred to Naval | 15 | | Air Station Oceana, where he served the remainder of his | 16 | | enlistment; he married Tiffany Johnson on April 11, 1997; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Josh Basala worked as a tinner and HVAC | 18 | | technician in the Quad Cities; he opened The Sneaker Vault in | 19 | | 2020, becoming a well-known figure in the shoe and vintage | 20 | | clothing community; he then started Olde Town Heating, Air, | 21 | | and Duct Cleaning Services in 2021; and | 22 | | WHEREAS, Josh Basala coached and served in various roles |

| 1 | | for many local sports teams and leagues; he was also a member | 2 | | of Local 91; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Josh Basala dedicated his life to supporting his | 4 | | sons in their sports endeavors, cherishing every journey he | 5 | | made across the U.S. to attend their games and celebrating in | 6 | | their successes with immense pride; he will be remembered for | 7 | | his kindness and generosity; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, Josh Basala was preceded in death by his | 9 | | grandparents; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Josh Basala is survived by his wife; his sons, | 11 | | Bailey (Brooke Nelson) Basala and Brody (Zoe McKinney) Basala; | 12 | | his mother and stepfather, Joni Basala and Alberto Favela; his | 13 | | father and stepmother, Rian Basala and Denise Basala; his | 14 | | brothers, Gabe (Amanda Marshall) Favela, Seth Basala, Adam | 15 | | (Jessica) Basala, and Brandon (Amanda) Mrazek; his | 16 | | stepsiblings, Adan Favela, Raul Favela, and Iceis Sindt; and | 17 | | his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be | 18 | | it | 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 21 | | Joshua "Josh" Basala and extend our sincere condolences to his | 22 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
