SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the sudden death of Robert H. "Bob" Jeffers of
4Hinsdale, who passed away on May 5, 2023 at the age of 74; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Jeffers was born to Robert H. Jeffers Sr.
6and Ruth Mary Mahan Jeffers in Leominster, Massachusetts on
7March 24, 1949; he was raised in Glen Ellyn, where he
8participated in Boy Scouts, tennis, stamp collecting, and a
9door-to-door egg sales route; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Jeffers graduated from Glenbard West High
11School in 1967; he earned a bachelor's degree in history from
12Marquette University in 1971, where he was a member of Alpha
13Delta Gamma Fraternity; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Robert Jeffers began his career at Marshall
15Field's in the credit department before eventually landing a
16job at Illinois Bell, which later led to a career with many
17divisions at AT&T, where he worked for 37 years until retiring
18in 2015; and
 
19    WHEREAS, While at AT&T, Robert Jeffers met and married
20Sara Byron, and they raised their two children, Patrick and
21Maddie Jeffers, in Hinsdale; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Jeffers was a proud and devoted father,
2volunteering at many of his children's activities throughout
3their lives; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Robert Jeffers was an active member of the
5Democratic Party of DuPage County for more than two decades,
6serving as precinct committeeman and treasurer in both Milton
7and Downers Grove Townships; he also served as treasurer of
8the Democratic Party of DuPage County for 24 years, stepping
9down in 2018; and
 
10    WHEREAS, For his commitment and service to the Democratic
11Party of DuPage County, Robert Jeffers was awarded the Tinker
12Harvey Pioneer Award in 2012; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert Jeffers was preceded in death by his
14parents; his brothers-in-law, Robert Benson and Glen
15Hessefort; and his sister-in-law, Mary Hessefort; and
 
16    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Robert Jeffers was
17survived by his wife of 34 years, Sara Byron Jeffers; his
18children, Patrick and Maddie Jeffers; his sister, Trisha
19(Peter) Pugal; his sisters-in-law, Peg Hershberger, Trudy
20(Ned) Byron Fahy, and Jeanne (John) Ferguson; his
21brother-in-law, Tom Byron; 10 nieces and nephews; and 13

1great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Robert H. "Bob" Jeffers and extend our sincere condolences to
5his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Robert Jeffers as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
