| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Richard Allen "Dick" Smock of | 4 | | Andalusia, who passed away on May 29, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Smock was born to John M. and Eva M. | 6 | | Hopper Smock in Rock Island on April 11, 1949; he married | 7 | | Marlowe Robinson at the First Presbyterian Church in Milan on | 8 | | May 15, 1971; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Richard Smock served in the U.S. Army during the | 10 | | Vietnam War; he received numerous honors for his military | 11 | | service, including the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze | 12 | | Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the | 13 | | Combat Infantry Badge, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation | 14 | | Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart, and the Bronze | 15 | | Star Medal with "V" Device and 1 Oak Leaf Cluster; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Richard Smock worked as an assembler for Raymond | 17 | | Toyota Manufacturing in Muscatine, Iowa for 25 years; he | 18 | | retired in 2014; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Richard Smock was a member of Reynolds American | 20 | | Legion Post 1166 and Vietnam Veterans of America #299; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Richard Smock enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, | 2 | | boating, and riding UTVs side by side with friends; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Richard Smock was preceded in death by his | 4 | | parents and his sisters, Virginia Carpio and Sandra Pate; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Smock is survived by his wife, Marlowe | 6 | | Smock, and his siblings, Bill Sehnert, Jack Smock, and Mary | 7 | | Alderson; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Richard Allen "Dick" Smock and extend our sincere condolences | 11 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 12 | | it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Richard Smock as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy.
