AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2197

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2197 on page 1, line 5, by deleting "3-2.7-1,"; and

on page 1, by deleting lines 8 through 12; and

on page 2, by replacing lines 3 through 10 with the following:

""County-operated juvenile detention center" means any shelter care home or detention home as "shelter" and "detention" are defined in Section 1.1 of the County Shelter Care and Detention Home Act and any other facility that detains youth in the juvenile justice system that is specifically designated to detain or incarcerate youth. "County-operated juvenile detention center" does not include police or other temporary law enforcement holding locations."; and

on page 4, by replacing lines 16 through 19 with the following: "of the Independent Juvenile Ombudsman. County-operated juvenile detention centers shall provide necessary administrative services and space, upon request, inside the facility to the Office of the Independent Juvenile Ombudsman to meet confidentially with youth and otherwise in performance of his or her duties under this Article."; and

on page 12, line 18, by inserting after "Code" the following: "or any other files of youth in the custody of county-operated juvenile detention centers, or both".
