AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1563

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1563, AS AMENDED,
3by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4following:
 
5    "Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by
6adding Section 13.10 as follows:
 
7    (415 ILCS 5/13.10 new)
8    Sec. 13.10. Microplastics. By March 1, 2024, the Agency
9shall make publicly available on its website the following
10information:
11        (1) a description of microplastics and their effects
12    on aquatic life and human health, including relevant
13    background information and sources of microplastics;
14        (2) any federal and State regulatory actions taken to
15    address microplastics and their effects on aquatic life
16    and human health;

1        (3) contact information for an employee of the Agency
2    who is available to provide information on microplastics
3    if a member of the public has questions or concerns; and
4        (4) additional resources, including, but not limited
5    to, links to webpages containing information on
6    microplastics on the United States Environmental
7    Protection Agency's website, the National Oceanic and
8    Atmospheric Administration's website, the National
9    Institutes of Health's website, the websites of other
10    State agencies and universities, and other scientifically
11    reputable websites that may contain additional relevant
12    information on microplastics.
13    The Agency shall update the website as additional
14information or data regarding microplastics in the State
15becomes available.
16    By October 1, 2024, the Agency shall submit a report to the
17General Assembly and the Governor that provides an overview of
18any Agency actions relating to microplastics, a comparative
19analysis of actions in other states regarding microplastics in
20the environment, and information on the latest guidance from
21the United States Environmental Protection Agency.".
