HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Collyn Forbis, an eighth
4grader at Western Junior High School in Kinderhook, on placing
5first in the 400m at the 2024 Illinois Elementary School
6Association (IESA) Class 1A 8th Grade Boys State Track and
7Field Meet; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis had previously only performed in
9the 400m event twice before qualifying for State; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis also placed third in the 800m,
11sixth in 1600m, and tenth in the 100m competitions,
12respectively; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Last year, Collyn Forbis placed first in the
141600m at the 2023 IESA Class 2A 7th Grade Boys State Track and
15Field Meet, breaking both his personal record and setting a
16new state record with a time of four minutes and 57 seconds; he
17did not lose a single 1600m race the entire season, and he
18improved his time by a full minute compared to his results from
19the previous year; and
 
20    WHEREAS, That same year, Collyn Forbis additionally broke
21his personal record in the 800m while placing second at the

12023 IESA Class 2A 7th Grade Boys State Track and Field Meet,
2achieving a 20-second improvement from his best time the
3previous year; overall, he won six of the eight 800m races on
4his way to placing first in the 800m at the 2023 IESA Class 2A
57th Grade Boys Sectional Track and Field Meet; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis has broken every Western Junior
7High School record in the 100m, the 400m, the 800m, the 1600m,
8and the shot put; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis is the son of Josh and Krista
10Forbis; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we congratulate Collyn Forbis on his accomplishments at the
142024 Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Class 1A
158th Grade Boys State Track and Field Meet, and we wish him
16continued success in the future; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Collyn Forbis as an expression of our esteem and
19respect.
