| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of MoDena | 4 | | Stinnette of Winthrop Harbor, who passed away on April 26, | 5 | | 2024; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette was born to Clyde Stinnette and | 7 | | Charlotte Johnson on October 09, 1969; she received her | 8 | | Bachelor of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science from National | 9 | | Louis University (Wheeling) in 2007, her Master of Business | 10 | | Administration in Organizational Development from National | 11 | | Louis University (Wheeling) in 2009, and her Ph.D. in | 12 | | Community Psychology from National Louis University (Chicago) | 13 | | in 2022; she also earned numerous certifications, including | 14 | | Peer Recovery Specialist, HIV Early Intervention, Reciprocal | 15 | | Alcohol & Drug Counselor, and Mental Illness and Substance | 16 | | Abuse; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette worked as a research assistant | 18 | | for the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority from | 19 | | 2007-2010, an evaluation assistant for the University of | 20 | | Illinois Urbana Education Justice Project from 2020-2021, and | 21 | | a graduate assistant for National Louis University from | 22 | | 2020-2022; she served as adjunct faculty for the College of | 23 | | Lake County from 2010-2012, National Louis University |

| 1 | | (Chicago) from 2022-2024, and Dominican University from | 2 | | 2022-2024; she was a professional adjunct lecturer for | 3 | | National Louis University (Chicago) from 2023-2024; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette's professional service included | 5 | | clinical supervisor for the Gateway Foundation from 2005-2013, | 6 | | outreach director for the Legacy Reentry Foundation from | 7 | | 2020-2021, program coordinator for NJRCO for 2021-2023, and | 8 | | social worker/recovery coach for the University of Illinois | 9 | | from 2020-2024; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette presented at numerous | 11 | | conferences in her field and authored a number of articles and | 12 | | books including Inside Out in 2010; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette was a member of the National | 14 | | Louis University Black Student Union in 2019, doctoral | 15 | | chairperson for the National Louis University Student Assembly | 16 | | in 2020, and president of the National Louis University | 17 | | Student Assembly in 2021; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette's professional memberships | 19 | | included the Education Justice Project Reentry Guide | 20 | | Initiative, the Society for Community Research and Action, | 21 | | Live4lali (board member), the Northern Illinois Recovery | 22 | | Community Organization (committee member), the Illinois |

| 1 | | Alliance for Reentry and Justice, the Midwestern Psychological | 2 | | Association, the Illinois Harm Reduction Coalition, the Lake | 3 | | County Juvenile Justice Council, the Thurman Perry Foundation | 4 | | (executive board), and the Mantle Center for Health Capacity | 5 | | (executive board); and | 6 | | WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette received numerous awards and | 7 | | recognitions during her career, including the Influential | 8 | | Woman Award in 2009, the Black Lives Matter Community | 9 | | Appreciation in 2022, the Community Service Pillar Award in | 10 | | 2022, and the Women of Destiny Harriet Tubman Award in 2022; | 11 | | therefore, be it | 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 13 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 14 | | we mourn the passing of MoDena Stinnette and extend our | 15 | | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew | 16 | | and loved her; and be it further | 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the family of MoDena Stinnette as an expression | 19 | | of our deepest sympathy. |
