HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Jacob Williams on his recent success at the Grand Lodge National Hoop Shot Championship; and

WHEREAS, Nine-year-old free throw shooter Jacob Williams began playing basketball at the age of four, following in the footsteps of his brother, father, and grandfather who all played when they were younger; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Williams recently placed third at the Grand Lodge National Hoop Shot Championship; there were a total of 12 contestants in his age group of eight-to-nine year olds, and he tied for third place with two other boys, having made 22 out of 25 shots; and

WHEREAS, In the subsequent shoot off, Jacob made five out of five shots, pulling ahead of the other two boys, one from Idaho and one from Maryland, who both made four out of five shots; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Williams had previously placed first at the Jacksonville Elks Hoop Shot in Jacksonville, Illinois, the Elks District Hoop Shot in Jacksonville, Illinois, the Illinois Elks Hoop Shot in Springfield, Illinois, and the Elks Regional Hoop Shoot in Iowa City, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Jacob is a student at Winchester Grade School and is the son of Sean and Katie Williams; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jacob Williams for his excellent performance this season and wish him continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Jacob Williams and his family as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
