| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Herman G. Bodewes on the | 4 | | occasion of his retirement as an attorney with the law firm of | 5 | | Giffin, Winning, Cohen & Bodewes, P.C., in Springfield; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Herman Bodewes is a citizen of the State of | 7 | | Illinois and holds a Juris Doctor from the Saint Louis | 8 | | University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science from Saint | 9 | | Louis University; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Following his graduation, Herman Bodewes was a | 11 | | law clerk to the Honorable United States District Judge Omer | 12 | | Poos; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Upon completion of his clerkship, Herman Bodewes | 14 | | practiced law with the law firm of Giffin, Winning, Cohen & | 15 | | Bodewes, P.C. for 58 years, joining the firm in 1965 and | 16 | | becoming a shareholder in 1971; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Herman Bodewes was the legal advisor for three | 18 | | Democratic leaders, Senators Thomas McGloon, Cecil Partee, and | 19 | | Phil Rock; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Herman Bodewes has practiced extensively and been |

| 1 | | a recognized leader in the areas of state, county, municipal, | 2 | | and administrative law; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, As a registered lobbyist for over 50 years, | 4 | | Herman Bodewes represented businesses and governmental | 5 | | associations alike; with his extensive knowledge of various | 6 | | industries, he participated in drafting seminal legislation | 7 | | such as the Illinois Beer Industry Fair Dealing Act in the area | 8 | | of alcoholic beverages and the Illinois Savings Bank Act of | 9 | | 1990 in the area of banking; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Herman Bodewes, above all else, has been blessed | 11 | | with a marriage of 60 years to his wife, Carolyn, and they have | 12 | | six children and many grandchildren with whom he enjoys | 13 | | spending time; therefore, be it | 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 15 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 16 | | we congratulate Herman G. Bodewes on his retirement, thank him | 17 | | for his service, and wish him the best in all of his future | 18 | | endeavors; and be it further | 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 20 | | presented to Herman Bodewes as a symbol of our respect and | 21 | | esteem. |
