AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3524

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3524, AS AMENDED,
3by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4following:
 
5    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
62-3.196 as follows:
 
7    (105 ILCS 5/2-3.196 new)
8    Sec. 2-3.196. Air Quality in Schools Working Group. The
9State Board of Education shall form an Air Quality in Schools
10Working Group to compile resources for elementary and
11secondary schools relating to indoor air quality in schools,
12including best practices for assessing and maintaining
13ventilation systems and information on any potential State or
14federal funding sources that may assist a school in
15identifying ventilation needs. The working group shall include
16representatives from the Department of Public Health, local

1public health professionals, ventilation professionals
2affiliated with a Department of Labor apprenticeship program,
3licensed design professionals, representatives from regional
4offices of education, school district administrators,
5teachers, and any other relevant professionals, stakeholders,
6or representatives of State agencies. The State Board shall
7implement an outreach plan to make the compiled resources
8available to elementary and secondary schools, including
9publication of the compiled resources on the State Board's
10website on or before August 1, 2024. The working group shall be
11dissolved upon the publication of the compiled resources. The
12State Board may, in consultation with the Department of Public
13Health or any other relevant stakeholders, update the compiled
14resources as necessary.".
