| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Lynn "Tom" Harpst of Mahomet, who | 4 | | passed away on June 18, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Tom Harpst was born to John and Eileen (Shea) | 6 | | Harpst in Monroe, Wisconsin on September 18, 1942; he | 7 | | graduated from Champaign High School in 1960; he joined the | 8 | | U.S. Navy in 1960 and served on the U.S.S. Windham County, | 9 | | formerly known as the U.S.S. LST-1170, for three years, two | 10 | | months, and one day; he married Martha McCree in Champaign on | 11 | | February 18, 1995; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Tom Harpst worked as a state highway worker for | 13 | | the majority of his adult life, earning retirement in 2002; | 14 | | and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Tom Harpst believed in community service and was | 16 | | active with the Mahomet Lions Club, the American Legion, and | 17 | | the Patriot Guard Riders; he also served with the Cornbelt | 18 | | Fire Department for 32 years; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Tom Harpst was preceded in death by his brother, | 20 | | John; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Tom Harpst is survived by his wife, Martha; his | 2 | | sons, Andy (Alyssa) Harpst and Chris (Sarah Hall) Harpst; his | 3 | | stepchildren, Connie (Cam) Bierman, Randy (Shirley) Eggemeyer, | 4 | | and Mark (Lorie) Eggemeyer; his eight grandchildren; his two | 5 | | great-grandchildren; and his sister, Tara (Ken) Nichols; | 6 | | therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Lynn "Tom" Harpst and extend our sincere condolences to his | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Tom Harpst as an expression of our | 14 | | deepest sympathy.
