| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Raymond G. Ethington of Rock Island, | 4 | | who passed away on August 27, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was born in Chicago to Vern and | 6 | | Mary (Lang) Ethington on September 9, 1930; he served in the | 7 | | U.S. Army as a master sergeant in the 145 Field Artillery | 8 | | Division during the Korean War; he married Marilyn Hanrahan in | 9 | | Rock Island on April 4, 1954, and she preceded him in death on | 10 | | July 20, 2016; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington worked at the John Deere | 12 | | Foundry in Silvis; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was a local Golden Gloves | 14 | | boxing champion in 1949; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was a former member of St. | 16 | | Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Pius X Catholic Church in | 17 | | Rock Island; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was preceded in death by his | 19 | | son, William Ethington; his brother, Robert Campbell; and his | 20 | | sister, Laverne Abner; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington is survived by his daughters, | 2 | | Tracy Hart (fiance Troy Gaye) and Jane (Mike) Pechacek; his | 3 | | sons, Keith (Sheena) Ethington, Michael (JoBeth) Ethington, | 4 | | and Scott (Michelle) Ethington; his daughter-in-law, Sue | 5 | | Ethington; his 13 grandchildren; his 10 great-grandchildren; | 6 | | his sister, Mary Ellen Samatare; and his brother, William | 7 | | Ethington; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Raymond G. Ethington and extend our sincere condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
