| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Hyatt Magazine on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of its 10th anniversary; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine is a free social and cultural | ||||||
| 6 | magazine published monthly, featuring events, entertainment, | ||||||
| 7 | lifestyle, business data, leisure, and lore; it is available | ||||||
| 8 | by print, online, and through most social media outlets; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine was founded by Dr. Mazen Barakat, | ||||||
| 10 | M.D., MHA, in May 2012, with the vision to build a world class | ||||||
| 11 | and reputable media institution in the United States to | ||||||
| 12 | connect Middle Eastern communities together, strengthening | ||||||
| 13 | their social, cultural, and economical aspects, while building | ||||||
| 14 | social, cultural, and economical bridges with other | ||||||
| 15 | communities; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine released its first publication in | ||||||
| 17 | June 2012, initially being distributed to Chicagoland areas | ||||||
| 18 | and surrounding suburbs before expanding to cover northwest | ||||||
| 19 | Indiana in 2015 and then the Milwaukee area of southeast | ||||||
| 20 | Wisconsin in 2016; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine, striving to fulfill its vision | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | statement, began communicating and building bridges with other | ||||||
| 2 | communities and ethnicities in 2017; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine hosted seven successful and | ||||||
| 4 | productive seminars on women's empowerment and leadership in | ||||||
| 5 | 2019; the publication initiated a movement to support women's | ||||||
| 6 | education and job placement through preparing to continue | ||||||
| 7 | hosting seminars in 2020, but the project was halted when the | ||||||
| 8 | nation was struck by the COVID-19 pandemic; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine launched the English version of | ||||||
| 10 | its podcast division in 2021 and prepared to introduce an | ||||||
| 11 | Arabic version; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine endorsed and supported its Public | ||||||
| 13 | Relations Director Tasneem Abuzir as she successfully ran for | ||||||
| 14 | a trustee position in the Palos Township in 2021, becoming the | ||||||
| 15 | first Middle-Eastern person to hold an elected office in | ||||||
| 16 | Chicagoland; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine celebrated its 10-year anniversary | ||||||
| 18 | in October 2022; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 20 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 21 | we congratulate Hyatt Magazine on the occasion of its 10th | ||||||

| 1 | anniversary, and we wish the publication continued success; | ||||||
| 2 | and be it further
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 4 | presented to Hyatt Magazine as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 5 | respect.
