| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert | 4 | | "Bobby" Lee Murray, who passed away on September 7, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Murray was born to Johnnie and Sadie Murray | 6 | | in Memphis, Tennessee on April 7, 1945; his family relocated | 7 | | to Chicago, and he grew up in the Woodlawn Community; he | 8 | | graduated from Hyde Park Career Academy and Coleman Barber | 9 | | School; he married Diane Smith on July 28, 1965; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Murray worked for LTV Steel until they | 11 | | closed and then found a home with U.S. Steel; he held several | 12 | | positions throughout his years at the steel mills, including | 13 | | as a union representative for his fellow steel workers, | 14 | | defending their interests and rights; he retired from U.S. | 15 | | Steel in April of 2010 after 50 years of service; he was also a | 16 | | licensed and practicing barber for over 50 years; many of his | 17 | | customers became good friends and followed him as he traveled | 18 | | from the barbershop on 79th Street to Danny's Barbershop on | 19 | | 119th and later when he worked from home; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Murray attended Apostolic Church of God | 21 | | online faithfully on Sundays from his favorite chair; he had | 22 | | been baptized at an early age; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Murray was a loyal and firm neighbor, a man | 2 | | of few words, and a family man of strong values and morals who | 3 | | always took care of his family and friends; his impressive | 4 | | music collection included 8 Tracks, cassettes, 45's, and | 5 | | albums with the record player to go along with his music, which | 6 | | of course included Motown favorites; he enjoyed the outdoors, | 7 | | including gardening in his backyard, and making his family | 8 | | laugh; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Murray was preceded in death by his | 10 | | parents; his daughter, Tonya; and his brothers, Alvin, Phil, | 11 | | Tyrone, Gregory, Michael, and Johnny; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Murray is survived by his wife of 56 years, | 13 | | Diane; his daughters, Sharon (Mark), LaDonna Paulk, Tracy | 14 | | Murray, and Angie (Gary); his 12 grandchildren; his 14 | 15 | | great-grandchildren; his seven great-great-grandchildren; his | 16 | | brother, Darrell Murray; his sister, Doris Murray; his nieces | 17 | | and nephews; his cousins; and his friends; therefore, be it
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 19 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 20 | | we mourn the passing of Robert "Bobby" Lee Murray and extend | 21 | | our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who | 22 | | knew and loved him; and be it further
