| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Louis J. | 4 | | "Louie" Giordano, formerly of Springfield, who passed away on | 5 | | May 3, 2020; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Louie Giordano was born in Springfield to Carl | 7 | | and Louise (Gentile) Giordano on December 22, 1946; he | 8 | | graduated from Griffin High School and received his bachelor's | 9 | | degree from Illinois College and his master's degree in | 10 | | political studies from the University of Illinois at | 11 | | Springfield; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Louie Giordano was active in local and state | 13 | | government for much of his life; he founded Giordano | 14 | | Consulting Services, which became a successful government | 15 | | relations firm that provided legislative services to several | 16 | | statewide trade associations in Illinois; he also co-founded | 17 | | the Systems Evaluation and Analysis Group, which teamed with | 18 | | notable companies, including IBM, Novell, and others, to | 19 | | introduce computer networking systems to several state | 20 | | agencies and private businesses; his company maintained | 21 | | offices in Springfield, Schaumburg, and Phoenix, Arizona; and

| 1 | | Thompson's Cabinet for five years as director of the | 2 | | Department of Personnel and as the first director of the | 3 | | Department of Central Management Services; preceding his | 4 | | cabinet positions, he was responsible for the re-design of the | 5 | | social services delivery system in the Department of Children | 6 | | and Family Services and was the chief administrative officer | 7 | | for the Department of Public Aid, where, in addition to his | 8 | | administrative role, he designed and managed the | 9 | | implementation of the first and most innovative photo I.D. | 10 | | system in the nation; he also served as executive director of | 11 | | the Illinois Republican Party for two years; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Louie Giordano taught Public Administration and | 13 | | Political Science at Loyola University of Chicago and the | 14 | | College of DuPage; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Louie Giordano enjoyed playing golf and | 16 | | basketball, attending sporting events, and traveling; his | 17 | | favorite travel destination was Italy, and he visited many | 18 | | times; his love of golf led him to design a unique putter and | 19 | | market it under the Sweetroll trade name; he also received | 20 | | several U.S. patents for golf club designs; therefore, be it
