| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, In 2020, the novel coronavirus COVID-19 began to | 3 | | spread throughout the world, creating a global pandemic that | 4 | | has had a catastrophic impact on human life, our communities, | 5 | | and our economy; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Communities in every state began to experience | 7 | | increased loss of life in March 2020, with families losing | 8 | | fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters due | 9 | | to the COVID-19 virus; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Many across the United States were and continue | 11 | | to be personally impacted by COVID-19, including mourning | 12 | | their loved ones, neighbors, colleagues, and friends or | 13 | | suffering from the unknown long-term health implications of | 14 | | the virus; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Since early March 2020, Illinois has faced the | 16 | | COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused extraordinary sickness and | 17 | | loss of life, infecting over 1,380,261 people and causing | 18 | | 22,739 deaths in our State alone; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, In Illinois, public servants, frontline and | 20 | | essential workers, and health care professionals selflessly | 21 | | acted to protect their neighbors and communities and find |

| 1 | | innovative ways to provide services at the risk of their own | 2 | | safety and lives; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an impact | 4 | | on our State, the United States, and countries around the | 5 | | world, but each life lost to COVID–19 shall never be | 6 | | forgotten; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 8 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 9 | | we mourn the loss of those who passed due to the COVID-19 | 10 | | virus; and be it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That we recognize the suffering of those who | 12 | | contracted the COVID-19 virus and survived but carry with them | 13 | | the unknown health side effects; and be it further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That we offer our deepest sympathies to those | 15 | | who are grieving with hope that the pain will not always feel | 16 | | as sharp and that moments of joy will return.
