| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James | 4 | | "Jim" M. Long; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Long joined the Westmont Park Board in 1982 | 6 | | and served as a park commissioner for 39 years; he was involved | 7 | | in every discussion, negotiation, policy decision, and | 8 | | visionary action that was shaped by the district over his 39 | 9 | | years of service; he was one of those rare individuals who was | 10 | | happy to remain in the background, letting others receive the | 11 | | accolades, even though he was one of the greatest influences | 12 | | on the growth, direction, and success of the Westmont Park | 13 | | District; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, In 2020, Jim Long was recognized as the Westmont | 15 | | Citizen of the Year and the Illinois Association of Park | 16 | | Districts Mike Cassidy Outstanding Board Member; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Jim Long was preceded in death by his loving | 18 | | parents, John and Ruth Long and his siblings, John (Colleen) | 19 | | Long Jr., Thomas (Kyra) Long, Robert Long, Susan (David) Kolb, | 20 | | and Julie (Beau) Jones; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Jim Long is survived by his wife, Kathy M. Devlin | 2 | | Long; his children, Kristin (John) Creighton, James (Gosia) | 3 | | Long, and Jennifer (Michael) Kavanagh; and his grandchildren, | 4 | | Aidan and Liam Creighton, John Long, Regina Cichy, Monika | 5 | | Wood, and Michael, James, Patrick, and Emma Kavanagh; | 6 | | therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 8 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 9 | | we mourn the passing of James "Jim" M. Long and extend our | 10 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | 11 | | and loved him; and be it further
