AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4469

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4469 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Criminal Code of 2012 is amended by adding Section 12-6.2-5 as follows:

(720 ILCS 5/12-6.2-5 new)

Sec. 12-6.2-5. Extortion.

(a) A person commits extortion when he or she knowingly obtains, attempts to obtain, or causes to be obtained, property, services, something of value, advantage or immunity from another person, with that person's consent, when the consent is induced by wrongful use of the threat of fear or actual or threatened force, violence, or under color of official right.

(b) Sentence. Extortion is a Class 3 felony.".
