SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

5 ILCS 490/194 new

Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Provides that August 26 of each year is designated as Illinois Constitution Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day to commemorate August 26, 1818 as the day Illinois ratified its first State Constitution.

AN ACT concerning government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by adding Section 194 as follows:

(5 ILCS 490/194 new)

Sec. 194. Illinois Constitution Day. August 26 of each year is designated as Illinois Constitution Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day to commemorate August 26, 1818 as the day Illinois ratified its first State Constitution.
