AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1844

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1844 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding Section 1-113.24 as follows:

(40 ILCS 5/1-113.24 new)

Sec. 1-113.24. Investment carbon footprint. Every retirement system, pension fund, or investment board subject to this Code shall, on an annual basis, determine the carbon footprint of its investment portfolio's direct holdings in publicly traded common stocks and make available to the public a report of the findings. In determining the carbon footprint of its investment portfolio under this Section, a retirement system, pension fund, or investment board may utilize financial data providers to aid in the collection of the required information.".
