SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

735 ILCS 5/13-227 new

Amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Provides that an action to collect a debt arising from a violation of a municipal ordinance may not be filed more than 7 years after the date of adjudication. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning civil law.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by adding Section 13-227 as follows:

(735 ILCS 5/13-227 new)

Sec. 13-227. Collection of debt arising from a municipal violation. An action to collect a debt arising from a violation of a municipal ordinance may not be filed more than 7 years after the date of adjudication.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
