| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Opal Lee (Grubbs) Werenski, who passed | 4 | | away on June 10, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Opal Werenski was born in Kentucky in 1945 to | 6 | | Wilma and Arnold Grubbs; her family moved to Illinois when she | 7 | | was a child, and Waukegan became her home for the next 45 | 8 | | years; she married Steve Werenski in 1964, and as a young | 9 | | married couple, they spent time living in Europe when Steve was | 10 | | in the U.S. Army; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Opal Werenski was a cosmetologist and owned her | 12 | | own business, Opal's Hair Design, for 20 years; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Opal Werenski was an avid golfer and loved her | 14 | | weekends spent at Bonnie Brook with dear friends; she enjoyed | 15 | | being surrounded by friends and family, celebrating life's | 16 | | milestones, often in her own home which became a second home to | 17 | | so many; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Opal Werenski was preceded in death by her | 19 | | husband, Steve; her siblings, Roscoe, Louise, Jerry, Larry, and | 20 | | David; and her parents; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Opal Werenski is survived by her children, Heather | 2 | | (Tom) Sternberg and Kristina (Eric) Lyons; her grandchildren, | 3 | | Athena, Tommy, and Lucas; her siblings, Eunice Schlegel and Ron | 4 | | Grubbs; and numerous other family members and friends; | 5 | | therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Opal Lee (Grubbs) Werenski and extend our sincere condolences | 9 | | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | 10 | | it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Opal Werenski as an expression of | 13 | | our deepest sympathy.
