| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Marion Z. Thompson Jr. of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on September 14, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was born in Ada, Oklahoma to | 6 | | Marion Sr. and Eva Lee (Davis) Thompson on September 26, 1931; | 7 | | he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married | 8 | | Helen Rogiers in Moline on April 16, 1955; he received his | 9 | | bachelor's degree from Augustana College and his Ph.D. from the | 10 | | University of Iowa; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson worked at the Rock Island Arsenal | 12 | | for 37 years; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was a member of Sacred Heart | 14 | | Church in Moline; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Marion Thompson is survived by his wife, Helen; | 16 | | his children, Elizabeth, Thomas (Leslie), and James (Molly) | 17 | | Thompson; and his grandchildren, Christopher, Ben, Tony, | 18 | | Margaret, Jack, Gavin, Sara, and Caroline; therefore, be it
