SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of G. Guffie Jones of Chicago, who passed away on October 18, 2018; and

WHEREAS, G. Guffie Jones was born in Uniontown, Alabama on January 19, 1939; he was raised by his mother, Julia Graves, his stepfather, Robert Graves, and his grandmother, Lethle Larkin; he was educated in Uniontown, Alabama and at Dunbar High School in Mobile, Alabama; and

WHEREAS, G. Guffie Jones moved to Chicago, where he worked various jobs; he later started his own company and was an accomplished electrician, builder, and handyman; and

WHEREAS, G. Guffie Jones enjoyed working with his hands, traveling, reading, and attending family gatherings; he loved his family and was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, G. Guffie Jones was preceded in death by his mother; his stepfather; and his grandmother; and

WHEREAS, G. Guffie Jones is survived by his daughters with his soul mate Carrie Robinson, Sharon (Leo) Webster, and Rochell (Wynn) Patterson; his four grandchildren; his eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Burnest (Benedicta) Graves; his sister, Barbara Jean (James) Hollins; his cousins, Madison Larkin Jr., Willie (Tammy) Larkin Sr., Michael (Metra) Larkin, Tina Graves, and Cohann Larkin; and his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of G. Guffie Jones and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of G. Guffie Jones as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
