SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Anthony Toussaint, who passed away on
4June 20, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint was born in London, England to
6Elizabeth and Allan Toussaint on October 25, 1960; at an early
7age, he demonstrated his love for learning by always reading
8and writing and learning something new; he challenged
9everything he did not believe to be true or right and was
10forward thinking, always looking for the next move; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry
12from the University of Leicester; he then earned a M.Sc. in
13Surface Chemistry and Colloids from the University of Bristol
14and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University College
15London; he completed postdoctoral work at the State University
16of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry with
17Dr. Philip Luner, which was followed by an MBA from the
18Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint worked for The Sherwin Williams
20Company in both Chicago and Cleveland, Sandoz Agro Inc. in Des
21Plaines, DSM Desotech/DSM Functional Materials in Elgin, St.
22Sabina Employment Resource Center in Chicago, and East-West

1University in Chicago; he held the position of co-director of a
2summer jobs program at the St. Sabina Employment Resource
3Center, where he hired mentors, worked with employers, and
4placed 15 to 24 year old individuals in summer jobs; at the
5time of his passing, he was the Manager of R&D/Technical
6Services at ICL Specialty Products in Hammond, Indiana and the
72018 ACS Chair of the Chicago Section; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint served young adults with
9disabilities as a member of the Board of Directors for The
10Bradley Cameron Association; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint enjoyed playing golf and
12mentoring young people in the community; he also enjoyed
13listening to music, especially Gospel, Reggae, and R&B; he ran
14the Chicago Marathon in 2009 and 2010; he loved his family,
15especially the frequent talks he had with his mother and Aunt
16Sonia, who was like a second mother to him; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Anthony Toussaint is survived by his mother,
18Elizabeth; his brothers; his aunts, his uncles; his nieces and
19nephews; his many friends; his work associates; and the
20Community of Saint Sabina; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Anthony Toussaint and extend our sincere condolences to his
2family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Anthony Toussaint as an expression
6of our deepest sympathy.
