SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Darrell Lee Mansfield of White Hall, who
4passed away on March 19, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Darrell Mansfield was born in Scottville to Coy
6Hicks and Ruth Marie (Marsh) Mansfield on August 11, 1932; he
7graduated from White Hall High School in 1950; he earned a
8degree in Animal Husbandry from the University of Missouri in
91954, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity;
10he married Nancy Griswold in 1956; he later married Jo Ann
11Cosgriff in 1963; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Darrell Mansfield worked in grain and livestock
13farming; he spent three years in Roswell, New Mexico managing
14the feedlot for Glover Meat Packing; he then returned to White
15Hall to farm with his father; he expanded the farming operation
16and was eventually joined by his son; he loved to farm and
17especially enjoyed his herd of Texas Longhorns; he actively
18managed the farm until his death; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Darrell Mansfield was a lifetime supporter of the
20Shriner organization; he was a member of White Hall Lodge #80
21AF & AM, the Scottish Rite-Valley of Springfield, the Ansar
22Shrine, the Rasna Shrine Club, and the Ansar Tin Lizzies Shrine

1Unit; he was seen driving in the Tin Lizzie unit in many
2parades and had currently been serving as Captain; he was the
3Honorary Ringmaster at the Shrine Circus in 2011 and was named
4"Shriner of the Year" in 2008; he proudly hosted a pig roast
5every September which generated thousands of dollars for the
6Shriner's Hospital for Children in St. Louis; he served on the
7North Greene School Board; he enjoyed going to antique
8auctions, traveling, watching his grandchildren in their
9various activities, and socializing with friends; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Darrell Mansfield was preceded in death by his
11parents and his brother, Donald Alonzo; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Darrell Mansfield is survived by his wife, Jo Ann;
13his children, Julie (Tim) King, Lon (Debbie) Mansfield, and Lea
14Ann (Steve) Brannan; his grandchildren, Andrew, John (Mary),
15Daniel, and Matthew (Maddie) King, Joe and Brooke Brannan, and
16Keaten Mansfield; his step-grandson, Jordan (Chrissy) Walters;
17his great-grandchildren, Carter and Claire King; and his two
18step-great-grandchildren, Alex and Tannin Walters; therefore,
19be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22Darrell Lee Mansfield and extend our sincere condolences to his
23family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
