| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Charles Robert "Charlie" Boyett of | 4 | | Carlinville, who passed away on January 8,2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett was born in Harrisburg to Robert | 6 | | Charles and Virginia (Ashe)
Boyett on March 20, 1946; he | 7 | | graduated from Lincolnwood High School in 1964
and Ranken | 8 | | Technical College; he married Mary "Pat" Portwood in | 9 | | Springfield on November 22, 1969; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett served in the United States Army
| 11 | | during the Vietnam War, where he received the Air Medal for | 12 | | distinguishing himself by
meritorious achievement while | 13 | | participating in sustained aerial flight in support of combat | 14 | | ground forces
during the period of May 1967 to October 1967; he | 15 | | participated in over 25 aerial missions over
hostile territory | 16 | | during that time; he was also awarded the Bronze Star; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett worked for Monterey Coal Mine in | 18 | | Carlinville and Freeman Crown II Coal Mine in Virden; he
| 19 | | retired from Freeman Crown III Coal Mine in Girard; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett was a long time member of Saints | 21 | | Mary and
Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville; he enjoyed |

| 1 | | mowing, gardening, riding 4-wheelers, fishing,
and hot rods; | 2 | | and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett was preceded in death by his | 4 | | parents; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett is survived by his wife, Mary | 6 | | "Pat"; his sons, Christopher Robert (Lyn)
Boyett and Casey | 7 | | Louis (Sarah) Boyett; his daughter, Carrie Elizabeth
(Ryan) | 8 | | Klotz; his grandchildren, Isabel and Vivian Klotz, Clara and | 9 | | Lucas Boyett, and
Lucy and Dillon Boyett; his sisters, Shirley | 10 | | Martin and Linda (Larry) Burnet; and several nieces and | 11 | | nephews; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Charles Robert "Charlie" Boyett, and extend our sincere | 15 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 16 | | him; and be it further
