| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Wayne A. Conrady of Lincoln, who passed | 4 | | away on October 29, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady was born in Lincoln to Benjamin | 6 | | Franklin and Viola Ferne McChesney Conrady; he graduated from | 7 | | Hartsburg-Emden High School and attended Lincoln College; he | 8 | | married Lois Elaine Paulus on October 7, 1951; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady was the owner and operator of Big | 10 | | Oak Farms and Big Oak Hunting Paradise; his life and career | 11 | | were spent working with livestock, raising crops, and | 12 | | advocating for the rural community, agriculture, and natural | 13 | | resources; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady was a member of several local | 15 | | organizations, including the Lincoln Jaycees, the Logan County | 16 | | Board, of which he was chairman for four years, the Land of | 17 | | Lincoln Workforce Board, the Lincoln Elks, the Logan County | 18 | | Agriculture Toastmasters, the Logan County Soil and Water | 19 | | District, the Logan County Pork Producers, the Illinois Pork | 20 | | Producers, the Logan County Angus Association, and the American | 21 | | Angus Association; he also served as an agriculture advisor to | 22 | | USDA Secretary Edward Madigan and as the Director of the |

| 1 | | American Angus Association; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady won several awards for his | 3 | | contributions to the agriculture industry and his community, | 4 | | including Outstanding Young Farmer and the Lincoln Courier Man | 5 | | of the Year; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady's love for life was fueled by his | 7 | | active support of his children, grandchildren, and | 8 | | great-grandchildren; he was a loyal fan of the Hartem Stags, | 9 | | the Lincoln Railers, the Midwest Central Raiders, and, most | 10 | | recently, the Mount Pulaski Bruins; he enjoyed attending | 11 | | livestock shows and the Farm Progress Show, where he was able | 12 | | to see his grandsons' contributions to the agriculture | 13 | | industry; he was an active member of St. John United Church of | 14 | | Christ, where he served on the church council and in other | 15 | | leadership roles; his greatest joys were food, fun, and | 16 | | laughter; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady was preceded in death by his wife, | 18 | | Lois; his parents; his brother, Harold (Margaret) Conrady; his | 19 | | brother-in-law, Wilbur Paulus; and his son-in-law, Daniel | 20 | | Hayes; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady is survived by his children, Elaine | 22 | | Conrady, Carla (Greg) Jurgenson, Jan (Mark) Schleder, Gary |
