SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Roger R. Tilstra of Onarga, who passed 
4away on July 12, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Tilstra was born in Onarga to John and 
6Margaret Dannehl Tilstra on
March 11, 1940; he graduated from 
7Onarga High School in 1959 and  from
1962 to 1964 served
in the 
8United States Army with Company A, 124th Maintenance Battalion, 
92nd Armored Division based at Fort Hood, Texas; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Roger Tilstra was an auto mechanic for his entire 
11working life; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Roger Tilstra was a 50-year member of the Onarga 
13Fire
Department, most recently serving as  commissioner; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Roger Tilstra was known for his colorful 
15personality, his dedication to the fire service, and his 
16commitment to firefighter safety; therefore, be it
  
 

  
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
19Roger R. Tilstra, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
