SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Palmalea "Pam" Rennie Taylor, who passed
4away on March 13, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Palmalea Taylor was born in Canton to Roy and
6Mildred Rennie on January 6, 1927; she graduated from Peoria
7Central High School and received her nursing degree from Rush
8Presbyterian St. Luke's School of Nursing; she married Alan M.
9Taylor M.D. on December 24, 1951; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Palmalea Taylor was an operating room head nurse
11and supervisor at St. Luke's from 1948 to 1953; she worked for
12many years in the field of medicine, first as a nurse, then
13helping in her husband's practice; she became the Executive
14Director of the Lake View Memorial Hospital Foundation in 1978
15until 1990; she was appointed Chairman of the Illinois Health
16Facilities Planning Board in 1979, and worked on the board
17until 2002; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Palmalea Taylor served on multiple committees and
19boards throughout the State; she was a member of the Lt.
20Governor's Council on Rural Health Care, the Vermilion County
21Public Health Department Board, the Vermilion Area Community
22Health Center Free Clinic, the Illinois State Medical Society,

1and the Vermilion County Medical Society Auxiliary; she was
2instrumental in bringing Aunt Martha's Health Center to
3Danville and served on its board of directors for many years;
4she devoted many hours to the city of Danville in organizations
5such as the YWCA, the Girl Scouts, 4-H, the Red Cross, the
6Salvation Army, United Fund, the Danville Library Foundation,
7and Aunt Martha's Youth Center, Inc.; she volunteered at
8Kennekuk Cove, the Arts in the Park, the Palmer Center, the
9Balloon Festival, and at her church, First Presbyterian Church
10of Danville; she was also a member of Chapter KE, PEO, and the
11Clover Club of Danville; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Palmalea Taylor received the Lifetime Achievement
13Award for Excellence in Governmental Affairs and Legislation
14from the Illinois State Medical Society, and an honorary degree
15from the Lakeview College of Nursing; she was recognized as a
16Charter Member of the Danville Symphony Guild; she worked with
17the Lakeview College of Nursing where she founded the
18President's Council; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Palmalea Taylor was preceded in death by her
20parents, and her husband, Alan M. Taylor M.D.; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Palmalea Taylor is survived by her children,
22Elizabeth Taylor, Leslie Phillips, Sarah (Paul) Knobloch, and
23Alan (Marijane) Taylor II M.D.; her grandchildren, Alan

1(Brenna) Knobloch, Alex Knobloch, Trysten (Ryan) Jones, and
2Alan Taylor III; and her great-grandchildren, Caiden, Callen,
3and Charlotte; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Palmalea "Pam" Rennie Taylor, and extend our sincere
7condolences to her, family, friends, and all who knew and loved
8her; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Palmalea Taylor as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
