SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Barbara C. Joehl of Godfrey, who passed away on February 19, 2017 at the age of 93; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Joehl was born in Godfrey to Joseph and Caroline (Nolan) Schetter on November 12, 1923; she married Raymond C. Joehl in Alton on May 2, 1944; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Joehl was an active member of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey; she worked in food services at Monticello College and had also worked for Western Cartridge Company in East Alton; she was a Madison County election worker for her local precinct; she retired from Joehl's Alfalfa Queen Farm in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Joehl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Eleanor Nolan; her son, Maurice Joehl; two grandchildren, Timothy Joehl and Gregory Nolan; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Ruckman and Bobby Sims; two brothers, Joseph and Leon Schetter; and four sisters, Ann Heafner, Josephine Tipsword, Elizabeth Ely, and Christine Kraushaar; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Joehl is survived by 13 children, Eileen (Edwin) Ruckman, Donald (Marilynn) Joehl, David (Paula) Joehl, Raymond (Julia) Joehl, Rita (John) Markgraf, Robert (Maureen) Joehl, Stephen (Gayle) Joehl, Brian (Lori) Joehl, Tony (Beth) Joehl, Martha (Dan) Schroeder, Gilbert (Brenda) Joehl, Veronica (Craig) Shaw, and Elaine (Mark) Edwards; 45 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Caroline Witt; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Barbara C. Joehl, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Barbara Joehl as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
