AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3072

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3072 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The State Fair Act is amended by changing
5Section 8 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 210/8)  (from Ch. 127, par. 1708)
7    Sec. 8. There is created a Board of State Fair Advisors
8consisting of the Director, 4 ex-officio members as hereafter
9named, and up to 15 20 persons appointed by the Governor. The
10Chairman and minority spokesman of the House Agriculture and
11Conservation Committee and the Chairman and minority spokesman
12of the Senate Agriculture, Conservation and Energy Committee of
13the Illinois General Assembly shall serve as ex-officio
14members. No more than 3 of the Board members shall be appointed
15from any one county. The terms of members of the State Fair
16Advisory Board appointed before the effective date of this

1amendatory Act of the 100th General Assembly shall expire on
2January 21, 2019. Initial appointments made on and after the
3effective date of this amendatory Act of the 100th General
4Assembly shall be for terms of one, 2, and 3 years staggered to
5provide for the selection of 5 members each year. All
6subsequent appointments shall be for terms of 3 years. All
7terms shall commence on the 3rd Monday in January. Members of
8the State Fair Advisory Board shall serve for 2 year terms
9commencing on the third Monday of January of each odd-numbered
10year. The Governor shall in making appointments to the Board
11provide for a representation of the operational interests of
12the State Fair and this State the State of Illinois. Members of
13the Board shall receive no compensation, but shall be
14reimbursed for necessary expenses incurred in the performance
15of their duties. An appointed member's office becomes vacant
16upon his or her absence from 2 consecutive regularly scheduled
17meetings. The Director or his or her authorized representative
18from the Department shall act as chairman of the Board. The
19duties of the Board are to advise the Director and the
20Department on matters concerning the operation of each State
21Fair and State Fairgrounds as they pertain to varied interests
22in the State Fairs and the people of this State the State of
23Illinois.
