| | 2 | | WHEREAS, March 12, 2018 marks the 106th anniversary
of the | | 3 | | founding of the Girl Scouts of the USA by Juliette Gordon Low | | 4 | | in 1912
in Savannah, Georgia; and
| | 5 | | WHEREAS, Throughout its long and distinguished history, | | 6 | | Girl Scouting
has inspired millions of girls and women with the | | 7 | | highest ideals
of character, conduct, and patriotism; and
| | 8 | | WHEREAS, Through Girl Scouting, girls gain courage, | | 9 | | confidence,
and character, making their communities and the | | 10 | | world
a better place; and
| | 11 | | WHEREAS, Girl Scouting takes an active role in increasing | | 12 | | awareness of the opportunities available to girls today; | | 13 | | opportunities that expand their horizons in math, science,
| | 14 | | health and fitness, technology, and community service; and
| | 15 | | WHEREAS, Over 2.6 million current Girl Scout members | | 16 | | nationwide believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, | | 17 | | Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)
to change the world; and
| | 18 | | WHEREAS, With nearly 59 million women who are former Girl | | 19 | | Scouts, Girls Scouts of the USA is proof
of the impact of this | | 20 | | amazing movement; therefore, be it

| | 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | | 2 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | | 3 | | declare March 11 to 17, 2018 as "Girl Scout Week in the State | | 4 | | of Illinois"; and be it further
| | 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | | 6 | | presented to the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois.
