HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jennett
4Coleman Alexander; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jennett Alexander was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas
6to Leroy Sr. and Mildred Coleman on February 19, 1941; she
7attended elementary school and high school in Pine Bluff,
8Arkansas; she received her bachelor's degree at A.M. & N.
9College (now University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff), Arkansas; her
10master's degree from Roosevelt University and she married David
11Alexander Sr.; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jennett Alexander was employed by the Chicago
13Board of Education for more than 30 years as a high school
14Biology Teacher; she coached her Honors Biology students in
15proper procedure for producing science projects, many of her
16students, including her daughter won awards at local, city, and
17state levels; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jennett Alexander was very active and enjoyed
19observing nature; she loved to sing, read, write poetry, and
20cook; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jennett Alexander was very active at Christ Temple

1Cathedral, where she remained a faithful member for 50 years;
2she was the chair of summer vacation Bible school, Bishop
3Lindsay's 25th Anniversary Program, and the CTC's Home Missions
4Ministry; she was a member and secretary of Saints Alive, a
5member of the United Christian Women's Ministry, the Deacon
6John Winter's Family Ministry Group, and she was the Sunday
7School Teacher of the Victorious Living Sunday school class;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jennett Alexander was preceded in death by her
10parents; her husband, David Alexander Sr.; one brother; one
11sister; and her daughter-in-law; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jennett Alexander is survived by her children,
13Jenelle Anita Alexander, and David (Pamela) Alexander Jr.; four
14grandchildren, David Alexander III, and D'Asia Alexander; four
15sisters, Gladys (Richard) Dennis, Mary Coleman, Ella (Harold)
16Washington, and Sarah (Jerry) Mutua; her sister-in-law,
17Glossie Coleman; her nieces, Janice Coleman, Shannan
18Washington, Lisha (Michael) VanPelt, and Mwia Mutua; her
19nephews, Rodney (Phyllis) Trottman, Reginald Dennis,
20Christopher Washington (DaLynda), Leroy Coleman III, Geoffrey
21Coleman, and Jason Mutua; her grandnieces, Phylicia Trottman,
22Brie Dennis, Micah VanPelt, Marley Washington, Lauren VanPelt,
23and Aubrey Coleman; her grandnephews, Richard Trottman,
24Brandon Dennis, Bradley Dennis, DeVaughn Mathus, Jason Mathus,

1Michael Umi VanPelt, Alexander Washington, and Zachary
2Washington; her great-grandniece, Ahyil Trottman; and her
3godson, Christopher Washington; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6mourn the passing of Jennett Coleman Alexander, and extend our
7sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
8and loved her; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Jennett Alexander as an expression
11of our deepest sympathy.
