AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2949

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2949 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
510-20.60 and 34-18.53 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.60 new)
7    Sec. 10-20.60. Active break required in elementary school.
8    (a) A school board shall require that schools provide an
9active break for all students in kindergarten through grade 5.
10The active break must total at least 20 minutes in length. The
11active break shall include unstructured play and may include
12organized games. If the principal determines that the weather
13is inclement, then the principal shall direct that the active
14break be held indoors.
15    (b) A school board may require that schools provide an
16active break for all students in grades 6 through 8.

1    (c) A school board shall prohibit the withholding of an
2active break as a disciplinary action.
