| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Darius Dean Harms of Flatville, who | 4 | | passed away on July 21, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Darius Harms was born in Champaign County to Wilke | 6 | | M. and Anna J. (Huls) Harms on August 27, 1937; he married Lois | 7 | | L. Busboom in Royal on May 31, 1969; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Darius Harms farmed in the Flatville area his | 9 | | entire life; he enjoyed sharing his love of farming and | 10 | | tractors with others and often demonstrated the progress of | 11 | | farming from the early 1900s to the current time; he was among | 12 | | the founding members of the Half Century of Progress Show and | 13 | | was superintendent of tractor pull events at the Champaign | 14 | | County Fair for over 40 years; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Darius Harms was a lifelong member of Immanuel | 16 | | Lutheran Church of Flatville, serving as council President and | 17 | | on the Historical Committee for many years; he was a founding | 18 | | member of the Illinois Tractor Pulling Association and the | 19 | | National Tractor Pullers Association, and was an honorary | 20 | | Kentucky Colonel; he was a longtime member of the I&I Antique | 21 | | Tractor and Gas Engine Club and the International Harvester | 22 | | Collectors Club Chapter 10; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Darius Harms was preceded in death by his parents; | 2 | | and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Darius Harms is survived by his wife, Lois; his | 4 | | children, Teri (Paul) Travis, Toni (Jeff) Brown, Derek Harms, | 5 | | and Dirk (Audrey) Harms; his grandchildren, Abby Harms, Brett | 6 | | Brown, Hallie Harms, Brooks Brown, Brodie Harms, Bryce Brown, | 7 | | Korinne Travis, and Kelsie Harms; his sister, Marlys (Greg) | 8 | | Cooper; his brother and sister-in-law, Les (Sheila) Busboom; | 9 | | and five nephews; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Darius Dean Harms, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Darius Harms as an expression of our | 17 | | deepest sympathy.
