SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dorothy "Dottie" Byrn Spence, who passed
4away on September 17, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence was born on June 25, 1931, in
6Gallatin, Tennessee; his parents were Mary and Philip Maynard
7Byrn; she married George Spence in 1950; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence lived in Alton for over 50 years;
9she served on the Madison County Board, sold real estate, and
10devoted countless hours to P.E.O., the Community Service
11League, and the Easter Seals Society; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence enjoyed spending summers at a
13cottage in Chautauqua, spending time with her friends, nature,
14and playing bridge; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence was preceded in death by her
16husband, George; her sisters, Brodie Shaw and Marion Tobias;
17and her brother, James Byrn; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dorothy Spence is survived by her daughters, Lisa
19Spence Huber, Sharon Spence, and Dixie Spence Taylor; her
20grandchildren, John and Michael Huber (Margaret Rogers),

1Molly, William, and Paul (Teresa Feathers) Salomon, and Abby
2and Mary Caroline Taylor; and her great-granddaughter, Nora
3Feathers; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
6family and friends, mourn the passing of Dorothy "Dottie" Byrn
7Spence; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Dorothy Spence as an expression of
10our sympathy.
