| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Rev. Stanley G. Lane of Joliet, who | 4 | | passed away on December 30, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Lane was born in Yuma, Colorado to Lloyd J. | 6 | | and Nellie (nee Atkinson) Lane on August 20, 1925; he served as | 7 | | a Tech Artillery Sergeant in the United States Army during | 8 | | World War II in France and Germany; he married Betty Lou Voight | 9 | | on June 6, 1947; he graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan | 10 | | University, Garrett Theological Seminary, and took chaplain | 11 | | training at the Topeka State Mental Hospital, while being a | 12 | | Methodist minister in Kingston, Scales Mound, and Elizabeth, | 13 | | and Williamsburg, Kansas; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Lane served as Chaplain at the Illinois Youth | 15 | | Commission and the Reception and Diagnostic Center for | 16 | | Delinquent Boys in Joliet for 30 years; he was instrumental in | 17 | | starting the Community Services Center, the Senior Services | 18 | | Center, and the Big Brothers of Will County; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Lane served on numerous boards throughout | 20 | | Will County; he also volunteered at Saint Joseph Medical Center | 21 | | for over 10 years; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Lane was preceded in death by his wife of 63 | 2 | | years, Betty; his grandson, Jeremy L. Lane; his | 3 | | daughter-in-law, Mary Lane; and his parents; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Lane is survived by his children, Jerry (Jean | 5 | | Evans), Sydney (Catherine), David, and Linda (Stephen) | 6 | | Meister; his 11 grandchildren; and his 13 great-grandchildren; | 7 | | therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Rev. Stanley G. Lane, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Rev. Lane as an expression of our | 15 | | deepest sympathy.
