| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Lulu Belle "Lu" Stewart, formerly of | 4 | | Champaign, who passed away on June 7, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lu Stewart was born in Chicago on November 27, | 6 | | 1929 to Glenn and Florence (nee Vosburg) Nash; she graduated | 7 | | from Horace Mann High School in 1948 and married Tommy Stewart | 8 | | on June 4, 1949; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Lu Stewart was always supportive of her husband's | 10 | | coaching career and they eventually settled in Champaign, where | 11 | | Tommy began a 30-year career as the head football coach of | 12 | | Champaign (later Central) High School; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Lu Stewart was proud of her place in the group | 14 | | that became to be known simply as the "coaches' wives"; this | 15 | | group of "JoAnne", "Pat", "Karen", "Norma", "Carolyn", "Ann", | 16 | | and "Roxie" became a posse of "BFF's" before there was such a | 17 | | thing as social media; she had other long-lasting friendships | 18 | | in Champaign throughout the years with Neda Sparks, Jen Shelby, | 19 | | Jane Green, Betty Davis, Jim and JoAnn Walters, Jerry and Diane | 20 | | Butler, Norma and Ron Mueller, Glen and Sue Kitson, and | 21 | | countless others; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Lu Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, | 2 | | Tommy; her father and mother; her brother, Glenn; and a baby | 3 | | son; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Lu Stewart was the beloved wife of Tommy Stewart; | 5 | | the loving mother of Thomas C. Stewart, Jr. and Susan E. | 6 | | Stewart; the dear grandmother of Jacqueline Eve, Thomas Andrew, | 7 | | and Casey and Thomas Cody; the great-grandmother of Nathan, | 8 | | Madelyn, Ethan, Schuyler, and Andrew; and the loving sister of | 9 | | Glenn Lewis Nash; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Lulu Belle "Lu" Stewart, and extend our sincere condolences to | 13 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 14 | | further
