| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Dorothy L. Mavrich of Joliet, who passed | 4 | | away on February 10, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Mavrich was born in Rockdale to Luba and | 6 | | Louis; she moved to Joliet in 1955; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Mavrich was a music instructor at the | 8 | | Joliet Conservatory of Music until a major fire in 1974; she | 9 | | continued teaching at her residence and enjoyed teaching all | 10 | | age levels; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, At the age of 50, Dorothy Mavrich became | 12 | | interested in politics but never sought office; her interest in | 13 | | public housing, inequitable taxation, and preservation of the | 14 | | then Rubens Rialto Square Theatre led to the formation of the | 15 | | Will County Cultural Arts Association in 1975; a name change to | 16 | | the Rialto Square Arts Association was instrumental in bringing | 17 | | the theatre under public ownership in 1978; she received many | 18 | | awards but her most cherished award was the honorary degree of | 19 | | Doctor of Humanities from the Lewis University; she authored 2 | 20 | | books: "Why Not? A Journey Through Music Land!" and "Thinking"; | 21 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Mavrich was preceded in death by her | 2 | | parents and her sister, Mildred; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Mavrich is survived by her 3 sisters, | 4 | | Amelia Kay (late Robert) Movold, Alice (late Jose) de Rotaeche, | 5 | | and Gladys (late Dr. Harold) Visotsky; her 2 nieces, Robin | 6 | | Visotsky and Maria (Sean) Green; her 2 nephews, Dr. Jeffrey | 7 | | (Lisa) Visotsky and John (Mapy) de Rotaeche; her great-nieces, | 8 | | Joanna de Rotaeche and Morgan Grace Green; her great-nephews, | 9 | | Zachary and Trevor Adam Visotsky and Matthew Louis Green; and a | 10 | | dear friend, Robert Baher; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Dorothy L. Mavrich, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Dorothy Mavrich as an expression of | 18 | | our deepest sympathy.
