AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3082

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3082 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Podiatric Medical Practice Act of 1987 is
5amended by changing Section 5 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 100/5)  (from Ch. 111, par. 4805)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2018)
8    Sec. 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
9    (A) "Department" means the Department of Financial and
10Professional Regulation.
11    (B) "Secretary" means the Secretary of Financial and
12Professional Regulation.
13    (C) "Board" means the Podiatric Medical Licensing Board
14appointed by the Secretary.
15    (D) "Podiatric medicine" or "podiatry" means the
16diagnosis, medical, physical, or surgical treatment of the

1ailments of the human foot, including amputations as defined in
2this Section ; provided that amputations of the human foot are
3limited to 10 centimeters proximal to the tibial talar
4articulation. "Podiatric medicine" or "podiatry" includes the
5provision of topical and local anesthesia and moderate and deep
6sedation, as defined by Department rule adopted under the
7Medical Practice Act of 1987. For the purposes of this Act, the
8terms podiatric medicine, podiatry and chiropody have the same
9definition.
10    (E) "Human foot" means the ankle and soft tissue which
11insert into the foot as well as the foot.
12    (F) "Podiatric physician" means a physician licensed to
13practice podiatric medicine.
14    (G) "Postgraduate training" means a minimum one year
15postdoctoral structured and supervised educational experience
16approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education of the
17American Podiatric Medical Association which includes
18residencies and preceptorships.
19    (H) "Amputations" means amputations of the human foot, in
20whole or in part, that are limited to 10 centimeters proximal
21to the tibial talar articulation.
