SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Consuelo G. "Connie" Raya of Alton, who passed away on May 1, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Consuelo Raya was born in Dodge City, Kansas; her parents were Lee and Ruth Gonzalez; she married Mike J. Raya on January 2, 1949, in Hutchinson, Kansas; and

WHEREAS, Consuelo Raya was employed as a presser for Temple Cleaners for over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Consuelo Raya was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; her greatest joy was spending time with her family; and

WHEREAS, Consuelo Raya was preceded in death by her son, Joe Lewis; and

WHEREAS, Consuelo Raya is survived by her husband, Mike; her children, Adelita "Adele" and her spouse, Steve Lakin, Diana Stroder, Mannie Jr. and his spouse, Barb Raya, and Jesse Raya; her grandchildren, Raquel Kronke, Tony Raya, Henry Mendoza, Della Stroder, Lana Stroder, and Grace Mitchell; her 11 great-grandchildren; her 4 sisters; her 3 brothers; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Consuelo G. "Connie" Raya; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Consuelo Raya as an expression of our sympathy.
