SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael D. Sikora of Edwardsville, formerly of Granite City, who passed away on January 3, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Michael Sikora served as an educator in the Granite City School District for 32 years; he began his career as a science teacher, then worked as a guidance counselor and assistant principal for many years before accepting the position of principal of Coolidge Middle School; he retired in 1993 from the Granite City School District Administration as the Director of Secondary Education; and

WHEREAS, Michael Sikora enjoyed hunting, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Michael Sikora was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Vera Sikora; and

WHEREAS, Michael Sikora is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Joyce M. Sikora, whom he married on November 19, 1960, at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kim Sikora; his daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Dan Greenemay and Kathy and Phil Grippi; his grandchildren, Danny and Zachary Greenemay, Bella and Philip Grippi, and Morgan, Kate, and Nick Sikora; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Sharon Sikora; his sister, Jean Cook; his mother-in-law, Margaret Graham; his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, JoAnne and Tom Taff; and his many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Michael D. Sikora; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Sikora as an expression of our sympathy.
