| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Michael D. Sikora of Edwardsville, | 4 | | formerly of Granite City, who passed away on January 3, 2013; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Michael Sikora served as an educator in the | 7 | | Granite City School District for 32 years; he began his career | 8 | | as a science teacher, then worked as a guidance counselor and | 9 | | assistant principal for many years before accepting the | 10 | | position of principal of Coolidge Middle School; he retired in | 11 | | 1993 from the Granite City School District Administration as | 12 | | the Director of Secondary Education; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Michael Sikora enjoyed hunting, golfing, and | 14 | | spending time with his grandchildren; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Michael Sikora was preceded in death by his | 16 | | parents, Mike and Vera Sikora; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Michael Sikora is survived by his beloved wife of | 18 | | 52 years, Joyce M. Sikora, whom he married on November 19, | 19 | | 1960, at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite | 20 | | City; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kim Sikora; his | 21 | | daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Dan Greenemay and Kathy |

| 1 | | and Phil Grippi; his grandchildren, Danny and Zachary | 2 | | Greenemay, Bella and Philip Grippi, and Morgan, Kate, and Nick | 3 | | Sikora; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Sharon Sikora; | 4 | | his sister, Jean Cook; his mother-in-law, Margaret Graham; his | 5 | | sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, JoAnne and Tom Taff; and his | 6 | | many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends; | 7 | | therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 10 | | his family and friends, the passing of Michael D. Sikora; and | 11 | | be it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Michael Sikora as an expression of | 14 | | our sympathy.
