HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the Metro West Council of Government on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS, The Metro West Council of Government is a non-profit organization founded in November of 2004; it serves a population of more than 750,000 in Kane, Kendall, and DeKalb Counties; and

WHEREAS, The Metro West Council of Government fosters regional cooperation to address issues, including managing growth, transportation, and water conservation, and the promotion of sustainable economic development; and

WHEREAS, The Metro West Council of Government provides a united voice for municipalities and serves as their advocate; it provides networking opportunities for area mayors and managers, which allows them to share ideas and address common issues; and

WHEREAS, The Metro West Council of Government serves its members and the region by: promoting excellence in local government; evaluating the impact of pending State and federal legislation on municipalities; articulating municipal concerns and advocating municipal positions on local, regional, State, and national issues; fostering intergovernmental communication and cooperation; providing research, technical assistance, training, and leadership development opportunities to members; and addressing growth, transportation, and water conservation issues affecting the region; and

WHEREAS, The Metro West Council of Government sponsors special programs and events to connect State and federal elected officials with local officials and community leaders, such as the Legislative Breakfast, the Springfield Drive Down, the State of the Counties Luncheon, Orientation Seminars for Newly-Elected Officials, and the Legislative Barbeque and Session Review; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Metro West Council of Government on its 10th anniversary and wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Metro West Council of Government Board of Directors and to the Mayor or Village President of each member municipality as an expression of our esteem and respect.
