resources;

19 | | (6) Developing and implementing school-based |
20 | | prevention programs ,
including mediation and violence |
21 | | prevention , implementing social and emotional education |
22 | | programs and services, and establishing and implementing |
23 | | bullying prevention and intervention programs ;

24 | | (7) Providing crisis intervention within the school |
25 | | setting;
|
26 | | (8) Supervising school social work interns enrolled in |

programs that meet the standards |
2 | | established by the State Board of Education;

3 | | (9) Providing parent education and counseling as |

7 | | assessment, as
well as assisting in the development of |
8 | | nonaversive behavioral intervention
strategies ; and .

9 | | (11) Evaluating program effectiveness. |
10 | | Nothing in this Section prohibits other certified |
11 | | professionals from
providing any of the services listed in this |
12 | | Section for which
they are appropriately trained.

18 | | (a) The Illinois State Board of Education shall develop and |

incorporate social and emotional |
20 | | development standards as part of the Illinois

21 | | Standards for the purpose of enhancing and measuring children's |
22 | | school
readiness and ability to achieve academic success.
The |
23 | | plan shall be submitted to the Governor, the General Assembly, |
24 | | and the
Partnership by December 31, 2004.

1 | | (b) Every Illinois school district shall develop a policy |
2 | | for incorporating
social and emotional development into the |
3 | | district's educational program.
The policy shall address |
4 | | teaching and assessing social and emotional
skills and |
5 | | protocols for responding to children with social, emotional, or
|
6 | | mental health problems, or a combination of such problems, that |
7 | | impact
learning ability. School social workers may implement a |
8 | | continuum of social and emotional education programs and |
9 | | services in accordance with students' needs. Each district must |
10 | | submit this policy to the Illinois State
Board of Education by |
11 | | August 31, 2004.
